A software application, its data, and service are all dependent on the quility of the network it runs on. Having decent hardware and critical uptime are key factors in delivering quality network service to keep serices running. Webites, programs, custom applications, and client server programs will not run if switches or network services are down. Data cannot be recoverd if the backup fails, data entry cannot be performed if the databse server has connectivity or authentication issues, and email cannot go out if the mail server has lost connectivity. As simple and mundane as keeping up with your hardware may seem, it is an essential aspect of delivering network services.
I support Windows servers from Windows NT 4.0 through Windows Server 2003.
I also support windows terminal services and have been called upon a number of times to help make non terminal server friendly applications run on a windows terminal server.
I design and build windows servers, I can install and configure RAID arrays, redundant switches, power supplies, multiple processors, memory, etc.
I also install and configure a virety of network services like DNS (both public DNS and private DNS), DHCP, WSUS and WUS (Windows Software Update Services), MOSS 2007 (Microsoft Office Sharepoint Services), IIS (Internet Information Services), and other web services.
I can install, configure, and support Windows domain controllers and manage the active directory including scripting active directory management tasks, and active directory migration and replication.
I support Microsoft Exchange Server, and its integrated pieces with IIS for Outlook Web Access and active sync, as well as Sharepoint mailbox connections and the delivery of email to MOSS 2007 sites, lists, calendars, and document libraries. I am familiar with exmerge and have used it to clean widely distributed viruses and junkmail.
